Roger Hines grew up in Mississippi and received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English from the University of Southern Mississippi. He taught high school and college English and worked as a columnist for the Marietta Daily Journal. Named Cobb County Teacher of the Year, he was also a finalist for Georgia Teacher of the Year. After two terms in the Georgia House of Representatives, he served as house messenger to the Speaker of the House.
